Ethan Lyman Bar Mitzvah:
Pass the Ball Forward
Since I was very young, I have played soccer, and it has always been a very important part of my life. Playing on a highly ranked team has been a big commitment, but I love the sport and all that it has taught me about teamwork, dedication, and perseverance.
For my Bar Mitzvah project, I decided to collect used soccer equipment and donate it through A Gift of Soccer to kids and communities who may not have the equipment they need to play.
I want to give other kids the opportunity to experience the game that I love and have the chance to play a sport that could become an important part of their lives, just like soccer has been for me.
.
Help Me Pass the Ball Forward:
I am collecting gently used soccer equipment that can be given a second life and put into the hands of kids who need it.
I’m collecting:
-
- ⚽ Soccer balls
- 👟 Soccer cleats
- 👕 Jerseys and soccer shirts
- 🩳 Soccer shorts
- 🦵 Shin guards
- 🧦 Soccer socks
- 🧤 Goalkeeper gloves
- 🎒 Soccer bags and other usable soccer equipment
The equipment doesn’t need to be new. If you’ve outgrown it or no longer use it, I would love to give it a new home.

Partnering with The Gift of Soccer is a meaningful Mitzvah project because it channels the simple act of giving into real, tangible change. By raising funds, collecting gently used cleats, jerseys, and balls, your community extends the life of loved equipment and opens doors for children who are eager to play but lack resources. This is a hands-on way to practice tikkun olam—inviting friends, and family to share what they have, reduce waste, and uplift others.
Most of all, it reminds us that generosity—whether a single ball or a full bag of gear—can spark joy, build confidence, and create a lasting ripple of kindness.
