fun skills, new friends, stronger community
The Gift of Soccer Foundation and McDonald’s Owner/Operators in Michigan and Ohio are teaming up this summer to make soccer fun and welcoming for kids again with free U5-U12 clinics for up to 200 players (capped at 50 per age group, balanced for boys and girls). Kids rotate through organized stations—small-sided games in hour one, then fun demos and simple teaching moments in hour two—while Grimace and friends keep it family-friendly and exciting. Every participant receives a custom city jersey and a “Gift of Soccer” cinch sack packed with lots of fun items.
LEARN NEW SKILLS
Kids learn new skills through fun, guided stations and small-sided games that build confidence fast. Coaches keep it simple and encouraging—helping players improve dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork with quick tips they can use right away. Every activity is designed so beginners feel supported, experienced players stay challenged, and everyone leaves smiling and excited to keep playing.
MAKE NEW FRIENDS
Kids will make new friends from the moment they arrive, thanks to small group rotations and team-based games that mix players together in a fun, welcoming way. With high-energy stations, lots of laughs, and coaches encouraging teamwork and good sportsmanship, it’s easy for kids to connect, cheer each other on, and leave feeling like they’re part of something special.
COMMUNITY STARTS HERE
When kids, families, and coaches come together in a fun, welcoming environment built around the game we all love. Through shared laughs, teamwork, and positive encouragement, every child feels included—on the field and off—and families leave feeling more connected to each other and to their community

The All Weather Fields consists of two separate synthetic turf athletic complexes designed for year-round play. The larger complex contains All Weather Field 1 and All Weather Field 2. It opened in the fall of 2010, with the turf being replaced in the winter of 2024. This facility includes two full-sized synthetic turf field areas lined for two full-sized soccer fields, or four smaller soccer fields (comp 7v7), or four recreational small-sided fields (Shooter/Passer), or one full-size football field. Both fields include tick marks so that lacrosse fields and a second football field may be lined using temporary paint by APD staff. The smaller complex opened the summer of 2024 and contains All Weather Field 3. It features two 9v9 size fields lined for soccer, or one full-size lined soccer field. Baseball practices or games may also take place on any of the All Weather Fields.
